A Camden teenager is dead and a Willingboro man was treated for wounds following a shooting at the Inn of the Dove in Cherry Hill early Sunday morning.
Police said an altercation at a party in one of the hotel rooms sparked the violence that followed. Both men were apparently inside a vehicle in the parking lot at 725 Cuthbert Boulevard when they were shot, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office (CCPO) said in a statement.
Jadyre Gordon, 17, of Camden, and an unidentified, 20-year-old Willingboro man were driven in a private vehicle to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden. Gordon was pronounced dead at 3:37 a.m.; the other man was treated for his injuries and later released.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and no arrests have yet been made. Anyone with information is urged to contact CCPO Det. Jim Brining (856-225-8439), Cherry Hill Det. Ed Williams (856-488-7828), or e-mail ccpotips@ccprosecutor.org.
The hotel has been an area that the township has designated for redevelopment, due in no small part to its frequent need for police service in recent years. One such incident occurred in May 2015, when a 24-year-old WIllingboro man was wounded in a shooting at the same hotel.
