A multiple-vehicle accident on the White Horse Pike in Oaklyn Wednesday left authorities to clean up a smashed utility pole and the remnants of a neon sign.

The driver of a dark gray van carrying the sign apparently slammed on his brakes, leading the car behind him to swerve to avoid a collision, said Oaklyn Police Chief Mark Moore.

In the act of swerving, the vehicle allegedly struck a pole and was in turn hit from behind by a third vehicle as well.

Moore said that police did not believe the van hit another vehicle or was struck in the incident, but consider it to have been a contributing factor.

Reports said that the van continued east on the Pike towards Audubon with two male occupants.

No one was injured in the incident, Moore said, and the flow of traffic was restored after about a half hour of being diverted while crews cleared the roadway.

Anyone with information on the accident is asked to call Oaklyn Police at 856-854-0049.
