A Collingswood man whom authorities allege is responsible for burglaries in at least five communities as far back as 2010 was arrested Monday.
Daniel Ortiz, 36, was arrested by detectives on a surveillance detail in Haddon Heights around 11:30 a.m. Monday. Police allege that he had just burglarized a home in the 400 block of 1st Avenue in Haddon Heights before he was captured without incident.
Ortiz’s arrest allegedly cleared eight burglaries in Haddon Heights, Haddon Township, Haddonfield, Stratford and Voorhees, according to a statement from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office (CCPO).
“More charges are possible as the limits to his criminal activities have not been determined,” the CCPO statement read. “Detectives believe that there are more victims who have not yet come forward.”
Ortiz was charged with six counts of third-degree burglary, six counts of fourth-degree burglary, and one count of violation of probation. He was remanded to the Camden County Jail in lieu of $105,000 cash-or-bond bail.
