Haddonfield Police are investigating an apparent case of vehicle arson that occurred on Concord Circle early Saturday morning.
According to security camera footage obtained by NJ Pen, around 1 a.m. on October 21, a thin figure dressed in black can be seen approaching a parked car in a driveway on the property, and carrying what appears to be a fuel canister.
The same footage appears to show that same person then apparently pouring an unknown substance all over the parked vehicle, and leading a trail of the same back to a corner of the yard.
Within six minutes, the person then lights the substance, and retreats over a garden wall as it catches fire.
A few seconds later, footage reveals that the same person returns back over the wall, re-ignites the substance again — this time at the vehicle itself — and then dashes off.
Within a few moments, the vehicle fully catches fire, culminating in a small explosion under the hood.
Furthermore, it’s not the first time this property has sustained a vehicle loss due to arson.
Haddonfield Police Chief Jason Cutler confirmed that vehicles were destroyed by fire at the same property in 2017 and 2021.
Moreover, the property has been held by different homeowners in that timeframe.
Officials from the Haddonfield Fire Department and Camden County Fire Marshal referred all comment to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office (CCPO).
Anyone with information about any of these incidents is urged to call the Haddonfield Police Department at 856-429-4700, ext. 250, CCPO Major Crimes Detective Jason Roland (856-225-5125), or CCPO Major Crimes Detective Corporal Kristin O’Neill (856-429-4700, ext. 252).
