Authorities are seeking information related to a hit-and-run that claimed the life of a Camden City man last night.

According to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office (CCPO), the incident occurred in the 2600 block of Mt. Ephraim Avenue in Camden City shortly before 10 p.m. January 27.

Police responded to the area after receiving a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle; when they arrived, they found a man suffering from head injuries, the CCPO said.

He was identified as 46-year-old Lawrence Lloyd.

Lloyd was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead just half an hour after police arrived on the scene. Police said that an eyewitness reported having seen the driver who hit him flee the scene.

According to their investigation, the vehicle involved could be a 2001-2006 Mazda Tribute or a 2001-2007 Ford Escape, possibly with front and driver’s side damage.

Anyone with information that could help identify the driver or locate the vehicle involved is urged to contact CCPO Det. Douglas Rowand (856-225-8514), Camden County Police Sgt. Gary Wilson (609-519-8264), or to e-mail ccpotips@ccprosecutor.org.
