Five more Camden County residents have perished from complications related to novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the county government announced Monday, bringing the total number of local deaths in the pandemic to 85.

The deceased are a Cherry Hill man in his 70s, and woman in her 90s; and two Voorhees Township women, one each in her 80s and 90s, and a man in his 80s.

Across New Jersey, 88,806 residents have tested positive for COVID-19, and 4,377 have died from complications related to the virus, Governor Phil Murphy reported Monday.

In a statement, Camden County Freeholder-Director Lou Cappelli said the county government is working “with our partners in both the public and private sectors to expand testing access throughout the county.

“The more tests we can administer, the better an understanding we will develop of how this virus is spreading and who is being affected,” Cappelli said. “That knowledge, combined with social distancing and other tools at our disposal, will be critical in our fight against this insidious virus moving forward.”
