A Camden City man could face life in prison after having been convicted of first-degree attempted murder in the 2018 shooting of his estranged wife in Cherry Hill.

On November 4, 2018, Brian Walker ambushed his estranged wife in the parking lot of a Cherry Hill apartment complex, shooting her several times.

He fled from authorities for the next month before finally being captured by U.S. Marshals in Tampa, Florida, on December 7, 2018.

Walker’s victim recovered from her injuries and testified during the six weeks of trials, according to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office (CCPO).

On February 25, 2020, jurors deliberated for around three hours before finding Walker guilty on seven charges; on Tuesday, they found him guilty of another weapons charge in less than an hour.

He was convicted of one count each of:

  • first-degree attempted murder
  • second-degree possession of a firearm
  • second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose
  • second-degree certain persons not to have weapons
  • third-degree aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
  • third-degree aggravated assault on a domestic violence victim
  • fourth-degree aggravated assault – pointing a firearm
  • fourth-degree stalking.

Walker is scheduled to be sentenced April 24 before Judge Francisco Dominguez.
