Cherry Hill police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run that resulted in the death of a pedestrian early Friday morning.
According to a press briefing, the victim, an as-yet-unidentified man, was struck in the marked crosswalk around 4:45 a.m. while crossing Route 38 in the area of Chestnut Street.
The victim was struck by an eastbound vehicle in the right lane as he was crossing the westbound lane.
The driver of the vehicle did not stop, police said.
The highway has seen its share of pedestrian deaths and injuries in recent years, including the 2017 death of 44-year-old Jose Martinez of Camden City and a severe head injury suffered by an unidentified 18-year-old in April.
