A pedestrian traveling on the Newton Lake park walking path Sunday evening was allegedly confronted by a pair of young adults who demanded money at knifepoint, according to Haddon Township police.
Police report that the men approached the victim around 6:45 p.m., each displaying a knife, and demanded money.
When they discovered that the victim didn’t have any money, they reportedly fled into the wooded area surrounding the trail.
Police from Haddon Township and nearby jurisdictions established a dragnet in the area, but a search for the suspects came up empty on Sunday night.
The investigation is ongoing.
Police recommend “that residents be extra vigilant when walking or exercising in the park after dark, or do so in pairs for their safety,” and ask any suspicious activity to be reported with a 9-1-1 call.
