A pair of Magnolia men who allegedly robbed a pizza delivery driver at gunpoint in Haddonfield on Friday were arrested in a cooperative effort between Haddonfield and Cherry Hill police.
According to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, Michael Deshields, 25, and Chris D. Ward Jr., 23, both of Magnolia, allegedly held up the driver after a delivery on Potter Street in Haddonfield just after midnight on October 31.
Authorities said that one of the suspects allegedly pointed a handgun at the victim during the incident, but no injuries were reported.
The pair reportedly sped off in a maroon Ford Explorer with a small amount of cash, but were caught by Cherry Hill police shortly thereafter, thanks to the driver’s 9-1-1 call.
At the time of the arrest, Deshields was also reportedly found to have been in possession of several small bags of cocaine. He was charged with possession of a controlled, dangerous substance (CDS) and possession of CDS with intent to distribute.
Both Ward, Jr. and Deshields were charged with robbery, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Bail was set at $159,000 for Deshields and $145,000 for Ward. Both were remanded to the Camden County Jail.
