UPDATE: March 19, 2018 – 9:22 a.m. — According to a spokesperson from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office (CCPO), the body of a 45-year-old Cherry Hill man was recovered by Haddon Township police in Newton Lake Park Sunday afternoon.
CCPO Public Information Officer Alex McVeigh said the medical examiner ruled the death to have been from natural causes.
In the absence of any criminal incident, the identity of the individual was not released, McVeigh said.
Sometime between 4 and 5 p.m. March 18, neighbors reportedly saw police rolling a sheet-covered stretcher out of the woods in the area of Lees Lane and Heather Road, and into an unmarked, windowless van.
The last body to have been recovered in Newton Creek was that of 54-year-old Tonilynn Rota of Philadelphia, who was found in the area of Route 130 on New Year’s Eve 2017. Rota’s death was not believed to have been suspicious.
